memorandum

To:          Reviewing Authorities

From:     John L. High, Director

Subject: FCC EEO Report (April 1, 2004–March 31, 2005)

Date:      April 1, 2005

WMOT had one job openings during the report period. See the Appendix 1 & 2 for detailed reports. Future openings will be filled according to the Middle Tennessee State University policy on Equal Employment and Affirmative Action and the guidelines contained in the Communications Act, et al. Appendix 3 reports our non-vacancy specific recruitment activities.

With the advent of the Commission’s Second Report and Order of November 20, 2003, WMOT has established a system of tracking, reporting and outreach to ensure that future job openings are widely disseminated. In addition to the usual adverting practices imposed by University EEO/AA policies, WMOT has attempted to contact several area organizations involved with job placement to inform them of opportunity to have notices of all job openings at WMOT be forwarded to them. Letters or emails have been sent the following entities:

The Career Center at Tennessee State University; Nashville LINK’s Chapter; Nashville Urban League; AWRT, Nashville Chapter; Nashville Employment & Training Resources Agency; Office of Minority Affairs of the Tennessee General Assembly; the Middle Tennessee Career Center of Murfreesboro; First Call For Help of Murfreesboro; the Mid-Cumberland Human Resources Agency; the Murfreesboro and Nashville chapters of the NAACP, the Nashville Career Center, and the Middle Tennessee State University Career and Employment Center.

Additional notices of employment openings will be sent to the Tennessee Association of Broadcasters’ Job Bank, the National Public Radio, the Corporation for Public Broadcasting, the National Association of Broadcasters, and others as determined at the time of need. The WMOT web site will be used for job notices.

An ongoing attempt will be made to identify other agencies for more contacts.

As director of broadcasting, I am the University’s contact person responsible, in coordination with the MTSU Director of EEO, for meeting all EEO/AA compliance milestones of the University, State of Tennessee, and the Federal Communications Commission.

Respectfully submitted.
