OBLIGATIONS AS A BROADCAST LICENSEE
Under a federally granted license, Middle Tennessee
State University is obligated to serve the demonstrated broadcast needs of
the citizens of the coverage area via WMOT Radio.
• WMOT Radio may not put the needs of its
licensee, Middle Tennessee State University, above those of the people
of the region {The Communications Act of 1934, as amended Sec. 307(a)}.
As a public trustee, MTSU is subject to regulation by the
Federal Communications Commission. As a result, WMOT Radio:
• refrains from
editorializing,
• seeks to achieve objectivity and balance, and
• observes FCC rules on:
1) fairness,
2) equal opportunity (time),
3) personal attack, and
4) objectionable language
