Murfreesboro man charged with selling fake Percocet pills

TBI

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP/WMOT) — The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation says a Murfreesboro man has been arrested following an investigation into the distribution of fake Percocet pills.

The TBI says 50-year-old Johnny L. Williams was arrested Friday night at his home and charged with one count of selling a controlled substance.

Williams was booked into the Rutherford County Jail on $100,000 bond.

The Rutherford County Sheriff’s Office reported 15 overdoses on Wednesday alone. The TBI says the tainted pills have resulted in at least three deaths.

Officials say the pills appear to have been laced with Fentanyl. The drug is more than 40 times more powerful that heroin, and 100 times more potent than morphine.
