'Perfect place to...talk to someone who's different.'

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (ALEXIS MARSHALL)  --  Centennial Park in Nashville will host the 21st annual Celebrate Nashville Cultural Festival Saturday.

The free event offers a wide range of music, dance, food and activities for all ages. Celebrate Nashville claims on its website that this weekend's cultural festival is not only an opportunity to better understand Nashville's diverse population, but also a "reminder of what makes Nashville a great place to live."

Executive Director Cindy Politte says a lot of people ask what a festival can do for the community.

"A lot of people ask, 'why a festival?' A festival provides an opportunity for the 50 cultures present in Middle Tennessee to participate as performers, small business owners, entrepreneurs, nonprofits, service-related organizations and artists,"

The festival will feature 60 musical acts including Native American, Japanese and Kurdish song and dance. It will also have over 50 food vendors who've been encouraged to offer samples of their dishes.

Politte said that the festival will also debut a beer garden sponsored by Musician's Corner.

"This is the perfect place to try something new, to hear some new music... to talk to somebody who's different, learn more about our community..."

Celebrate Nashville is an all-ages event with separate activities areas for children and teens. It's open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on October 7.

Visit the festival website or Facebook page for additional information.
