Rash of Burglaries at Rutherford County Churches

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. (WMOT)  --  A rash of burglaries at rural churches throughout Middle Tennessee has law enforcement asking for the public's help.

The Rutherford County Sheriff’s Office reports that five rural Rutherford County churches were burglarized in the early morning hours of April 20 and May 8. Three of the churches are located in Walter Hill will the other two are located Manson Pike.

Sheriff’s Office spokesperson Lisa Marchesoni says electronics and petty cash were stolen in most of the cases.

“We believe that the burglaries are connected. We’ve had a rash of them in this county and in surrounding counties, along with Maury County. We believe it may be the same set of burglars doing these crimes.”

The Sheriff’s Office is asking rural churches to be sure their burglar alarms are on and suggests they may want to add video surveillance as well.

Anyone with information on these burglaries should call the Sheriff’s Office at 898-7770.
