MTSU Leaves Sun Belt for Conference USA

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. (WMOT)  --  Middle Tennessee State University President Sidney A. McPhee held a news conference this morning to announce big changes for Blue Raider sports.

“Today ladies and gentlemen, I’m pleased to formally announce that Middle Tennessee State University has accepted an invitation to become a member of Conference USA.”

In a press statement, MTSU says it will “enjoy significant national and regional television exposure and revenue sharing,” as a new Conference USA member school.

Golfer Tae Wan Lee recently joined the Blue Raider's Golf Team.

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. (BEASLEY)  --  One of the world's top-ranked amateur golfers is coming to the Mid-State

Middle Tennessee State University's golf team recently signed Tae Wan Lee, the sixth-ranked junior golfer in the world according to Golfweek.

MTSU golf coach Whit Turnbow says Lee is a consensus junior all-American and is the highest rated recruit the Blue Raiders have ever signed.

MTSU Linebacker Undergoes Surgery, Full Recovery Expected

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. (WMOT)  -- A Middle Tennessee State Blue Raider’s linebacker is recovering at Vanderbilt Medical Center after suffering serious injury during Saturday's game against Troy.

MTSU says football standout Craig Allen underwent successful surgery on Sunday to remove a herniated disk from his neck and is expected to make a full recovery.

"We are just grateful that the injury was not any worse,” said Head Coach Rick Stockstill. “Our thoughts and prayers will be with him as he goes through the recovery process."

Raider Football Hosts Troy at Home Saturday

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. (WMOT)  --  Blue Raiders football returns home to play the Troy Trojans in hopes of staying alive in the Sun Belt championship race.

The MT men invite Troy to Floyd Stadium Saturday in pursuit of ending their six game losing streak to the Trojans.

Saturday will be Senior Day, as Middle Tennessee will honor 16 seniors before the kickoff.

The Blue Raiders currently have a three game winning streak and are still receiving votes in the USA Today Coaches Poll.

Junior Jajuan Harley garnered SBC Defensive Player of the Week honors on Monday

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. (BEASLEY)  --  Middle Tennessee's stellar defensive play led the way in Saturday's victory over South Alabama.

With the help of four defensive turnovers and career-high 154 yards from Jordan Parker, the Blue Raiders defeated South Alabama by a score of 20-12.

Middle Tennessee now stands at 7-3 (5-1 SBC) after recorder it's fifth road win, the most since 1992.
