MURFREESBORO, Tenn. (WMOT)  --  The National Weather Service has concluded its investigation of the tornados that struck Tennessee February 29 and March 2.

A total of six tornados caused damage in eight counties, including Cheatham, Cumberland, DeKalb, Fentrass, Jackson, Putman, Overton  and White counties.

Two of the tornados were classified as EF0, the lowest designation, while two more were classified as EF1, and the final two were EF2. An EF 2 can have sustained winds of up to 135 miles an hour.

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. (WMOT)  -- A federal disaster declaration for Tennessee is possible following last week’s deadly tornados.

The Federal Emergency Management Agency says it’s joining Tennessee Emergency Management Agency personnel in assessing damage around the state following severe weather last Friday

TEMA says that nearly 900 homes and other structures in 19 Tennessee counties reported damage.  Forty-five people sought medical treatment for storm related injuries, but no deaths were reported.

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (AP/WMOT) —  Thirty-nine deaths in 5 states was the toll from Friday’s severe weather as of Monday morning.

The state Emergency Management Agency said there were no deaths here in Tennessee, but at least 45 people were injured in two waves of bad weather. Most of the injuries occurred in the Chattanooga area.

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. (AP) — No deaths were reported in Tennessee after a series of strong storms pushed through the state Friday afternoon and evening. Three counties reported injuries and several reported light to moderate damage.

The Associated Press reported that six to eight people were hospitalized in Chattanooga and at least 20 homes destroyed after a possible tornado swept through the area early in the afternoon.
