MURFREESBORO, Tenn. (WMOT) -- It's no surprise that one of the nation’s foremost experts on vintage American guitars and similar instruments would call the Nashville area home.
George Gruhn is the owner, of course, of famed Gruhn Guitar in downtown Nashville. He’s also the author of an acclaimed guitar field guide.
Gruhn will kick off what’s expected to be a multi-year program on the American guitar Tuesday at Middle Tennessee State’s Center for Popular Music. Center Director Dale Cockrell says no one knows more about the guitar.
“I expect it’s going to be an interesting, colorful, exciting time, because George himself is interesting and colorful. And then, who doesn’t like guitar music? It’s the heart of American popular music.”
Gruhn will speak at the Center this Tuesday afternoon beginning at 4 p.m. The Center for Popular Music is located in the Mass Comm building on the MTSU campus.
