Side-by-Side Concert at the Schermerhorn Thursday Night
MURFREESBORO, Tenn. (WMOT) -- A select group of local student musicians are set to perform alongside members of the Nashville Symphony Thursday evening.
Members of the highly competitive Curb Youth Symphony will perform works by Bartok, Beethoven and Tchaikovsky alongside their professional counterparts for what the Nashville Symphony calls its annual Side-by-Side Concert.
Chloe Harvel is the Curb first violin and concert mistress for Thursday night’s performance. This will be her third Side-by-Side Concert.
“There’s so much energy on that stage when we perform with them. It really gives us an opportunity to see what it’s like to play in a professional orchestra, especially since that’s what we’re aiming to do. We are musicians in training.”
Curb musicians are chosen in open auditions from local students in the 8th to the 12th grades.
Tomorrow evening’s Schermerhorn Symphony Center concert is free and open to the public. Look for the details at nashvillesymphony.org.
