MURFREESBORO, Tenn. (WMOT)  --  If you’re into Big Band music here’s a heads up, the musical review In The Mood will be in Nashville this weekend for a couple of performances.

In the Mood might be better described as a variety show with music, dancing, and authentic costumes. The show has been touring now for 21 years.

Bud Forest, the show’s creator, says he thinks part of the review’s success has to do with the way music can evoke a time and place.

“We have generations coming to the show. Grandparents are coming, bringing their kids and grandkids. I get emails all the time the day after the show. They go home and they talk about what the music and times meant to them. We can all remember a person or a place by a song and I think that’s what In the Mood does. It evokes these…triggers these memories.”

A live band and singers perform to music of artists like Glenn Miller, Artie Shaw, Harry James and the Andrew Sisters.

In the Mood comes to the Nashville Symphony’s Schermerhorn Center this Sunday. There’s an afternoon matinee and an evening performance.
