NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WMOT) -- The TV show Nashville is adding a transgender character to its cast.
The Tennessean reports the character will be played by Emmy-nominated writer, producer and actress Jen Richards. Richards will reportedly play a physical therapist treating one of the show’s main characters.
Shot here in the mid-state, Nashville will debut its fifth season in early January on CMT.
In a recent tweet, Richards applauded the show’s producers for having the courage to include a transgender character; a first for the drama and the network.
