A trio of leading period instrumentalists from around the nation will join forces to present a musical tour of Europe, during the Baroque.  Karen Clarke, violin (faculty, Blair School of Music, Vanderbilt); Brent Wissick, viola da gamba (faculty, University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill); and Kathleen McIntosh, harpsichord (Santa Fe, NM), will play six works from France, Italy and Germany by Baroque composers Corelli, Buxtehude, Rameau, Marais, Fischer and Schmelzer.  The performance is at the Blair School of Music, Vanderbilt University, 2400 Blakemore Ave., Nashville, and is free and open to the public.  For information, call 850-264-9293. 


Karen Clarke joined the faculty at the Blair School of Music in the fall of 2007, where she teaches violin, and created a period instrument program for string players.  As a period instrument violinist she has performed and recorded with the Smithsonian Chamber Orchestra, the Apollo Ensemble, and the Boston Early Music Festival Orchestra.  She is principal second violin of the Santa Fe (NM) Pro Musica, acting artistic director of Music City Baroque, and a long-standing member of Atlanta Baroque Orchestra.  Karen is a professor emerita of Florida State University and has had a versatile performance career on modern violin. 

Brent Wissick is a professor of cello, viola da gamba and early music ensembles at the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill. A member of Ensemble Chanterelle and the Atlanta Baroque Orchestra, he is a frequent guest with the Dallas Bach Society, the Folger Consort, Concert Royal, the Smithsonian Consort of Viols, the Boston Early Music Festival, Magnolia Baroque and Wroclaw Baroque in Poland. Brent is the guest artist and guest artistic director for the Music City Baroque all-Handel concert at First Presbyterian Church on Sunday, March 17th at 3 p.m.

Kathleen McIntosh is an active harpsichordist throughout the southwestern United States. She is a member of Serenata of Santa Fe, and performs frequently with the Santa Fe Chamber Music Summer Festival and Santa Fe Pro Musica. International music festival performances include Esteban Salas Festival (Havana), Musica Antigua (Lima), Deia International Festival (Mallorca) and Tsuyama International Festival (Japan).
