WASHINGTON, DC (OSBORNE) -- A Vanderbilt Professor’s book signing event has been disrupted by white supremacist protesters.

According to NBC affiliate TV4, Vanderbilt Sociologist and Psychiatrist Dr. Jonathan Metzl was in Washington D.C. Saturday to promote his new book  “Dying of Whiteness: How the Politics of Racial Resentment is Killing America’s Heartland.” Ten protesters briefly disrupted Dr. Metzl's presentation, chanting "This land is our land" and other slogans before quickly filing out of the store.

Metzl says his book describes how “GOP policies that claim to make white America "great again" end up making the lives of working-class white supporters harder, sicker and shorter.”

Several news outlets have identified the protesters as members of the American Identity Movement, formerly known as Identity Europa.
