NASHVILLE, Tenn. (Mike Osborne) -- Artists and small music venues here in Middle Tennessee are hoping to be included in any additional rounds of federal pandemic assistance.

Cannery Ballroom, Mercy Lounge and The High Watt sent letters tto supporters this week, suggesting they contact the Tennessee Congressional delegation and ask for disaster aid for small venues.

The appeal reads in part “use your voice to tell them you want to see independent live music survive in our community.”

The effort is part of a wider campaign by the National Independent Venue Association. NIVA sent letters to Tennessee's Senators and Representatives this week "asking for critical support needed to weather this storm."

You can learn more about the aid request here, and learn how to participate here.
