MURFREESBORO, Tenn. (Mike Osborne) -- Metro Davidson County officials say some 15,000 absentee ballots have not yet arrived back at election headquarters.
In a press statement released on Monday, Elections Administrator Jeff Roberts says about 30,000 August 6 primary ballots were mailed to Metro voters. However, only about half have since been returned.
Roberts is urging Nashvillians to get those ballots back quickly. They absolutely must be received in the county election office by no later than the close of polls on election day.
Absentee voters can track their ballots online to ensure they arrived safely.
Roberts also notes that in-person early voting continues at 11 poll locations across Metro through this Saturday, August 1. You can review a map of poll locations and a list of operating hours here.
As the coronavirus crisis has escalated, Metro has experience a massive increase in the numer of voters opting to use early or abesntee ballots. In the first week of early voting alone, the number of abentee and early ballots cast was more than 600 percent higher than in 2016.
