NASHVILLE, Tenn. (Sarah Oppmann) -- Nashville based artist Ashley Gorley was named Country Music Songwriter of the Year for the eighth time at the 58th annual American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers (ASCAP) Country Music Awards last week.
In a press statement, ASCAP noted that Gorley’s song, “One of Them Girls”, recently reached number one on Billboard, which gave him a total of 51 number one singles. Gorley is the only songwriter in the history of Billboard to reach the milestone. Other Gorley hits include, “Good Vibes,” “Remember You Young” and “One Big Country Song.”
Gorely said that he felt “humbled, proud, and extremely grateful” after receiving the award, and it created a “bright spot” in his life during this hard year.
The ASCAP award for Country Music Song of the Year went to Old Domino’s “one-man band” written by the Old Domino members and songwriter, Josh Osborne.
The Country Music Publisher of the Year Award went to Warner Chappel for the eighth year in a row for publishing a variety of popular songs including “10,000 Hours” and “Raised on Country.”
The ASCAP awards were held virtually this year across multiple media outlets, including Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram, allowing everyone to enjoy the performances and speeches in the safety and comfort of their homes.
