NASHVILLE, Tenn. (OSBORNE) -- The Tennessee House has passed a measure that would make it easier to get a concealed handgun carry permit.

“Reduce the burden for individuals to achieve in a lawful manner their second amendment right that we think is enshrined in the Constitution of the United States.”
Memphis Democrat London Lamar voted against the measure. She noted the bill would eliminate the current requirement that carry permit holders get live-fire, gun-range safety training.
“I think that it is really dangerous someone to get a license to carry a firearm who doesn’t have any live training.”
The measure passed the House 62 to 31 with some Republican opposition.
The bill would reduce the cost of obtaining a carry permit. It would also allow applicants to fulfill training requirements by watching a 90 minute online video.
The companion bill is up for debate on Wednesday in the Senate Ways and Means Committee.
