NASHVILLE, Tenn. (Mike Osborne) — COVID-19 outbreaks have prompted still more school closings in Middle Tennessee.
Student’s at Rutherford County’s Oakland High begin remote learning Thursday. In a Facebook post, the county said it closed the school because it couldn’t find enough subs to fill in for quarantined teachers.
WKRN reports Central High and Raider Academy in Coffee County closed on Wednesday.
Earlier this week, Maury County Schools closed four school buildings, including an elementary, two middle schools and one high school. Administrators say well over 400 students at 23 of the system’s 24 schools are currently in quarantine.
Reporters on Wednesday afternoon asked Gov. Bill Lee about the growing list of COVID-19 related school closings. Lee insisted the number of closures remains statistically small and that in-person learning is still the best option.
