Murf. woman says machete-wielding man attacked her

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. (WMOT)  -- Some scary moments Wednesday for a woman living in a Murfreesboro homeless camp.

Police responded to the tent camp under the railroad bridge on S. Church Street Wednesday evening following an anonymous phone tip about a disturbance there.

Police say when they arrived they spotted 36-year-old Christopher L. Lindsay running away with a machete in hand. The incident report says one officer saw Lindsay ditch the knife in a nearby tree line. He then surrendered without incident.

Back at the homeless camp officers spoke to 48-year-old Donna Anderson. She told police Lindsay invited her to a friend's home to drink. She refused fearing she would be sexually assaulted and retreated into her tent.

She says Lindsay then began slashing the tent with his machete with her inside. She says on one swing the knife came within inches of her face.

Lindsay was arrested on a charge of Aggravated Assault and booked into the Rutherford County Jail on a $10,000 bond. He’ll make his initial appearance in Rutherford County General Sessions Court at the end of April.
