New Health Care On line Marketplace Still Glitchy

healthcare.gov/

CHICAGO (AP) — Tennesseans trying to sign up for health insurance using the new Affordable Care Act online marketplace continue to experience trouble accessing the system.

An attempt made to sign on to the Tennessee page Wednesday morning from the WMOT newsroom was stalled part way through the registration process.

The Primary Care and Hope Clinicin Murfreesboro is one of the organizations authorized to help mid-state residents navigate the new health care marketplace. The clinic’s Cindy Rhea says she's been fielding a lot of interest calls, but so far bugs in the system have kept them from signing up a single patient.

“People were wondering why they couldn’t get on the website. We were wondering the same thing, but we’re here to just really help people understand how insurance works and then understand what they need to complete the enrollment process. It’s a little complicated so we’re there to help them navigate that.”

Rhea says the clinic’s mission is to provide primary care for the uninsured and the under-insured. She says about half of the clinic’s patients do not presently have health insurance.
