NASHVILLE, Tenn. (Mike Osborne) -- The state and the City of Nashville are preparing to dole out more relief aid to pandemic struck small businesses.
State officials this week announced they’re offering another $50 million in grants to small businesses and non-profits. Grants to businesses owned by women, minorities, veterans and disabled owners will reportedly be prioritized.
Nashville Mayor John Cooper on Thursday announced another $5.5 million in additional small business grants. Two million will go specifically to the city’s many small music venues.
Mayor Cooper in September asked the state to provide Nashville with an additional $82 million in pandemic assistance. Gov. Lee quickly rejected the request and chastised the city for the way it allocated the aid it received directly from the federal government.
