Ty Herndon reissues 'What Matters Most' with changed pronouns

Ty Herndon

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (Osborne) -- Country artist Ty Herndon has released an updated version of the 1995 hit that launched his career, “What Mattered Most.”

Herndon charted three Number One Country hits over three years ending in 1998.

Sudden fame was followed by a downward spiral that saw Herndon arrested for drug possession, lawsuits over unpaid bills and breach of contract, divorce, bankruptcy, and the loss of his recording contract.

Herndon came out as gay in a 2014 interview with People magazine, ending years of speculation about his sexual orientation.

In the new version of the love-lost tune "What Mattered Most," Herndon has changed all the pronouns in the song from “she” and “her,” to “him” and “his.”
