MURFREESBORO, Tenn. (WMOT) -- A Murfreesboro delivery driver says he turned the tables on a would-be robber Wednesday night.
Wing Zone deliveryman Shahan H. Zaidi called police at around 10 p.m. Wednesday evening to say someone had just tried to rob him.
Zaidi was delivering to an apartment in the Vie apartment complex on Willowbrook Drive. As he left the apartment, Zaidi says a man wearing a black hoodie pointed a pistol at him and demanded money.
Zaidi says he told the would-be robber he didn’t think the gun was real and then Zaidi kicked his attacker in the groin.
The deliveryman says he didn’t wait at the scene for police, but arranged to meet them at his next delivery stop.
Police immediately put out a be-on-the-lookout notice for the robber. Zaidi described as a black male standing five feet, nine inches tall and weighing approximately 180 pounds.
The case has been turned over to MPD detectives.
