Women's March - Power Together moves to Murfreesboro

womensmarchtn.org

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (OSBORNE) -- The Tennessee chapter of Women’s March - Power Together will hold its annual Middle Tennessee march in Murfreesboro this weekend.

The organization’s first march was held in 2017 the day after the inauguration of President Donald Trump. After sponsoring one of the largest marches in U.S. history, the national organization suffered setbacks, with infighting among organizers and charges of racism.

But local march co-organizer Brandon Thomas says the Tennessee chapter is prospering. He says Saturday’s march will be all about energizing voters.

“There’s a lot of unregistered voters out here in Rutherford County… We want to engage with them and see what issues concern them, so that we can get them to the polls and engaged.”

Thomas says march participants will meet at Murfreesboro’s Walnut House at 8 Saturday morning. He says marches are also planned in Memphis, Knoxville and Chattanooga.
