How the Poorest regions in Mexico Deal with Climate Change on THE world for 4-29-14

PRI's The World - with Host Marco Werman

Grab some lemon juice and a toothpick. We're writing secret letters today. More on that in a minute.

Violence has flared again across Syria, and our plan is to take you to Damascus for the latest. We'll pair that with a look at Hezbollah, the Lebanese Shiite group whose fighters have been battling alongside Syria's government forces for months now. Susannah George in Beirut has that story for us.

Plus, we want to check in on the story of more than 200 young girls who were recently abducted from their school in Nigeria. Nigerian author Adaobi Tricia Nwaubani, will tell us about the effect the abductions have had on her country.

Our Environment Desk has not one, but two compelling stories for you. The first is from Chiapas, Mexico and looks at how one of Mexico's poorest regions is dealing with the effects of climate change. The second comes from California, where a new bill is being debated in the legislature that would restrict the use of antibiotics in livestock. We'll find out about that story's Danish connection.
