Aftershocks hit Nepal; death toll from quake rises past 3,600

An earthquake early Saturday afternoon in Nepal has left more than 3,600 people dead, according to reports from Nepalese authorities. Thousands more are injured and hundreds missing after the 7.8 magnitude temblor struck an area about 50 miles north west of the nation's capital, Kathmandu.

FROM THE NEWSROOM:  We head first to Kathmandu and the BBC's Divya Aria, who has been assessing the damage in the Nepali capital and the surrounding area. We'll also check in with Roger Bilham, an expert in global seismic hazards, who talks about the fault-lines in that part of the world. And in New York, reporter Bruce Wallace talks to Nepalis who are trying to get news of their relatives back home.
