The Daily Show with Jon Stewart airs, with its namesake at the helm, for the final time Thursday night. Over 17 seasons, the satirical news show has become one of the most influential TV programs of its time — changing not only the genre of political comedy but arguably political culture more generally.

In the lead-up to the last show, q's pop culture panel  — Stephen Marche, Emily Keeler and Briony Smith — convenes to discuss the end of an era.
