When we tallied it all up, the artist played the most times on WMOT in the outgoing year was Marcus King. This came mostly on the strength of his album El Dorado, produced by Dan Auerbach and released in January, before the pandemic forced his large and loud Marcus King Band off the road.


Ana Lee is WMOT’s ear to the ground for emerging and local artists working in our remarkable hometown, and she filters all she hears – live and on record – into the Local Brew, the weekly show and daily feature she’s hosted since April of 2019. Now she’s taken stock of 2020 and picked ten albums particularly worthy of remembering as the year comes to a close.

In a year bereft of most live music, recordings took on added import and resonance. I upgraded my home stereo in February, unaware that I’d be spending more hours between the speakers than ever. Given the artistic abundance of our Americana music community, that was no problem at all.
