New details in the shooting death of a Clarksville toddler
CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (WMOT) -- A disturbing new twist in the shooting death of a two-year-old Clarksville boy.
Police have now arrested the toddler’s stepfather as an accomplice in his murder.
WSMV-TV says Joseph Binkston was shot by an intruder back on October 4. Now police say the child’s stepfather, David Wi, had recently taken out an insurance policy on the boy.
Investigators also say that Wi and the alleged gunman, Zackery Alexander, are friends. Both are soldiers serving at Fort Campbell.
According to police, phone records indicate that Wi and Alexander spoke to each other just before and just after the shooting.
Wi has been charged with criminal conspiracy to commit homicide. Alexander is charged with criminal homicide.
Both men are being held on $5 million bonds.
