Murf. homeless community suffers another machete assault
MURFREESBORO, Tenn. (WMOT) -- For the second time this month a member of Murfreesboro’s homeless community reports being assaulted by a man wielding a machete.
Forty-two-year-old Anthony G. Brewer tells police he was sleeping in his tent near the intersection of Rosebank and Riverside drives when he was awakened by Chad Jones.
Brewer says Jones assaulted him and he took out a phone to call police. At that point Brewer says Jones grabbed a machete and began to swing at him and Brewer retreated into his tent to escape.
Brewer showed responding officers cuts in his tent he says Jones made during the attack.
Police have taken out aggravated assault warrants on Chad Jones, but he has not yet been taken into custody.
Earlier this month 36-year-old Christopher L. Lindsay was arrested by the MPD after a woman accused him of using a machete to slash her tent in the homeless camp at the S. Church Street railroad overpass.
Forty-eight-year-old Donna Anderson told police one swing of the knife came within inches of her face as she cowered inside her tent.
