NASHVILLE, Tenn. (Mike Osborne) -- State health officials on Tuesday encouraged Tennessee seniors 70 and older to get vaccinated against COVID-19.
Health Commissioner Dr. Lisa Piercey notes that, ten days after the state authorized residents 70-plus to register for immunization, only one in three seniors have done so.
State records show that 70 percent of Tennesseans who have died due to COVID-19 complications have been 71 years of age or older.
Health officials are offering several resources to help seniors make a vaccination appointment. The state has created a vaccination guide specifically for seniors. They’ve also produce a video that walks through the online registration process. There’s even a by-county list of transportation services available to seniors who no longer drive.
