PRI's The World - with Host Marco Werman

Roads and politics are on our minds today, perhaps not surprisingly given the brewing political scandal in New Jersey.

New Jersey Governor Chris Christie is apologizing, after leaked emails suggested that his staff may have closed highway lanes to exact political retribution. From long experience here in The World newsroom, we know that the United States is hardly the only place in the world where politicians, their staffs and traffic intersect. We'll take a spin with a number of our correspondents from far-flung places to hear how road politics play out.

Plus, we'll profile a doctor in Nigeria who is going to great lengths to make sure his patients get treatment. He has fashioned simple, manual medical devices that can be locally made and easily maintained. You need to separate red blood cells from plasma? He's made a device that can do that...out of spare bicycle parts.

And Nick Burns, a former US diplomat and massive pro hoops fan, weighs in on Dennis Rodman's trip to North Korea.
