Rash of Vehicle Burglaries in Murfreesboro

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. (WMOT)  --  A rash of vehicle burglaries has left dozens of Murfreesboro residents with car windows smashed and property worth thousands of dollars stolen.

Incident reports by the Murfreesboro Police Department list more than two dozen auto burglaries in the past five days. There were ten vehicles burglarized on Monday alone.

Murfreesboro resident Brittany Miller had a typical experience. Her car was broken into Monday in the parking lot of the North Thompson Lane business where she works. Miller lost her purse, wallet, cash, and checkbook, along with her credit and debit cards.

In two recent cases, police say video cameras caught the thieves in the act. In one incident a white male with dark hair and driving a red or maroon PT Cruiser burglarized a car. In a second incident, a black male riding a girl’s bicycle broke into a vehicle.

Murfreesboro Police are reminding residents to lock their vehicles, take all valuables with them, and park in well-lit areas.
