AAA says 844,000 Tennesseans will hit the roads this holiday weekend

AAA

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. (WMOT)  --  AAA says it expects to rescue nearly 360,000 stranded motorists on the nation’s roadsides this holiday weekend.

The agency says its analysts predict nearly 42 million motorists will be traveling during the holiday weekend, including 844,000 Tennesseans.

AAA’s Stephanie Milani says dead batteries, flat tires and lockouts are what strand most motorists, so she encourages travelers to check those tires and batteries before heading out.

The good news is that fuel prices are not expected to rise during the Independence Day holiday.

“Typically we do see prices fall through the summer months, so hopefully that will be the trend again this year. But compared to last year in Tennessee we’re looking at about an 88 cent decrease from this same time last year.”

AAA says the average price for a gallon of unleaded fuel stands at $2.53 today, that’s down 97 cents in the past year.
