NASHVILLE, Tenn. (Mike Osborne) — Tennessee has marked new highs for the most COVID-19 deaths in a day, week and month.
State health officials reported 78 virus related fatalities on Friday. That’s Tennessee’s highest single-day death count since the pandemic began in March.
A seven day high for virus related deaths was also reached this past week. A total of 253 Tennesseans succumbed to the illness during the week ending Saturday. That’s a 28 percent increase over the previous seven days.
October is now the deadliest month of the pandemic, with 899 fatalities reported. September recorded the previous high with 700 COVID-19 deaths.
