On Improvised Thoughts with Beegie Adair is the ever popular pianist & bandleader Gene Harris!  In this show from 1994 the spotlight's on the CD 'Funky Gene's' and the Gene Harris Quartet of the day: Gene Harris; guitarist Ron Eschete; Bassist Luther Hughes & drummer Paul Humphrey.

At this point in his career, Gene Harris was one of the most in-demand artists on Carl Jefferson's Concord record label.  What a turnaround from 17 years earlier when the pianist returned to Boise, Idaho and announced his semi-retirement from performing!  What followed was a remarkable success story that included world tours, a Grammy nomination, solid recordings with his trio and quartet, even solo and with an all-star big band.

Gene Harris joins us for an hour of music and conversation on the next edition of Improvised Thoughts with Beegie Adair.
