Music City Baroque Presents Concert at Church of the Holy Trinity

 Chamber Music at Holy Trinity – Sunday, Feb. 26 at 3:00 p.m.:  Church of the Holy Trinity, 615 Sixth Ave. South, Nashville – Music by J.S. Bach, Handel, Leclair and Marini set in the lovely acoustics and beautiful Gothic architecture of an historic church, built in 1852.

Johann Sebastian Bach:  Trio Sonata from the Musical Offering, BWV 1079, for flute, violin and continuo (Sonata sopr'il Soggetto Reale)

George Friedric Handel:  Trio Sonata IV in F for oboe, violin and continuo

George Friedric Handel:  Suite for Harpsichord in E Major “The Harmonious Blacksmith,” HWV 430

Jean-Marie Leclair:  Dances from Première Récréation de Musique, Op. 6, for two violins and continuo

Biagio Marini:  Sonata quarta “per sonar con due corde,” Op. 8 (1629)

Music City Baroque, now in its eighth season, offers ensemble and chamber music of the 17thand 18thcenturies played on period instruments, in the style the composers would have expected, so that their music may be heard in all its original color and passion.  Performers are drawn from members of the Nashville Symphony and faculties of the schools of music at Vanderbilt, Belmont and MTSU.

Mass in B Minor by J.S. Bach - Sunday, March 25 at 3:00 p.m.:  St. George’s Episcopal Church, 4715 Harding Pike, Belle Meade, Nashville – A rare opportunity to hear a live performance on period instruments with chamber choir of one of Bach’s greatest works. 


Fiddling Project II at the Loveless Barn – Monday, April 16, 2012 at 7:30 p.m.:  Loveless Barn, 8400 Highway 100, Nashville – MCB continues its Fiddling Project with a performance at the Loveless Barn that will trace Tennessee’s musical roots, finding ties between fiddling and early “classical” violin playing.
