NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WMOT)  --  It’s almost time for Nashville’s annual celebration of Make Music Day.

This year some 100 performers will make music at 30 different venues around the city. Sponsors call it Nashville’s largest, free, outdoor, all-inclusive music festival.

Event co-founder Jesse Strauss says the Nashville festival -- to be held the 21st of this month -- is part of much larger movement.

“The event itself is part of an international celebration called “A De La Musique,” and has been celebrated around the world in over 700 cities in 120 countries.”

Make Music Nashville is kind of a musical free-for-all with drum circles, play-alongs, sing-alongs, music lessons, and even some instrument giveaways.

“We hope that we can have something for everybody. We want to bring something unique and different to Nashville because there’s so much music going on here already.”

Beyond the annual festival, Make Music Nashville now also has a permanent presence in the city. They’re calling it the Piano’s in the Park’s Project. A free to use, donated piano is rotating between city parks.

“We have installed that piano in Cumberland Park downtown. So if anybody wanted to head down there they can play on that. It’s going to be there throughout June and July.”
