Valentine winter storm is finally loosening its grip on Middle Tennessee

WMOT

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (Mike Osborne)  --  The National Weather Service Office in Nashville said Thursday morning that the winter storm that’s kept Middle Tennessee shuttered for the past week is nearly done.

The mid-state could see some light snow today, but the bulk of the storm’s precipitation has now moved off to the east. However, the accumulated snow and ice currenlty on the ground will likely remain for at least two more days.

Middle Tennessee received an additional three inches of snow overnight on top of the ice and snow that fell earlier in the week.

Temperatures will hover around the freezing mark the next two days. Don’t expect significant melting until daytime highs push into the upper 30s on Saturday and the upper 40s on Sunday.

The extended forecast shows daytime highs in the fifties beginning Monday.
