MURFREESBORO, Tenn. (WMOT)  --  Williamson County had the hottest job market in the country last year.

A report just out by the Federal Bureau of Labor Statistics shows Williamson County posted the nation’s largest employment increase with a gain of 5.4 percent between September 2010 and September 2011. The average jobs growth in the country during the period was just 1.6 percent.

The report says the largest employment increase in Williamson County occurred in the category “professional and business services,” which gained more than 1,700 jobs.

Four other Tennessee counties also created jobs at a pace better than the national average.  Davidson County created jobs at a 2.6 percent rate. Hamilton and Knox counties added jobs at a 1.9 percent pace.  Rutherford County employment grew at 1.8 percent.

Frederick, Maryland, experienced  the largest year-over-year decrease in employment in the U.S. with a loss of more than two-and-a-half percent.
