CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (AP) — Officials in Chattanooga plan to take up a proposal that would extend health benefits for city workers to same-sex partners.

The Chattanooga Times Free Press (http://bit.ly/17qpKMS ) reports that City County members will each make a statement about their feelings on the matter Tuesday before taking a vote on the measure. Councilman Chris Anderson will introduce the proposal.

If officials approve it, Chattanooga would become the third city in Tennessee to offer benefits to domestic partners. The cities of Collegedale and Knoxville passed measures earlier this year.
