MURFREESBRORO, Tenn. (WMOT)  --  Optimism continues to grow in the Tennessee business community, according the latest quarterly Business Barometer survey by Middle Tennessee State.

The barometer indicated a lot of pessimism among the state’s business leaders prior to Donald Trump’s election, but the survey saw a significant improvement in business sentiment in January.

Barometer director Dr. Tim Graeff says enthusiasm continues to grow in the second quarter.

“They were expecting things to improve in our last survey and the current survey indicates that many of them think that things actually are getting better, not just for the overall economy, but for their individual, specific businesses and firms.”

Dr. Graeff says a growing number of businesses expect to hire more workers in the near future, but he also notes business leaders say they are not currently able to find enough qualified job candidates.
