NASHVILLE, Tenn. (Mike Osborne)  --  The Tennessee Department of Health reports the number of confirmed COVID-19 cases statewide increased by six in the past 24 hours.

The current total number of cases stands at 32 as of Saturday afternoon, up from 26 on Friday.

The state department says there are now 14 cases in Metro Nashville. Late Saturday morning Nashville Health Department officials put the city’s current total confirmed cases at 13. The reason for the discrepancy is not immediately clear.

The number of cases remained unchanged overnight in Hamilton, Jefferson, Knox, Rutherford and Sullivan counties. They each currently report a single infection. Shelby County also remains unchanged with two infections.

Williamson County is reporting a single new case overnight, increasing the total number of infections there to 10.

The Nashville Department of Health released new patient information Saturday morning. Officials there report that Metro’s infected patients range in age from 11 to 50 years. The statement further states that “All cases are self-isolating at home and have mild and manageable symptoms.”

On Friday, Mayor John Cooper launched a Nashville Coronavirus Task Force. In a press statement announcing the move, Cooper said the panel’s mandate is to "facilitate more efficient sharing of information and ideas among Metro Government personnel, epidemiologists, hospital leaders, community organizers, and others involved in our coronavirus response strategy."

The mayor’s statement recommended several sources for additional information about the viral outbreak, including the Tennessee Coronavirus Public Information Line at 877-857-2945, the Metro Public Health Departmentwebsite, the Tennessee Department of Health website, and the Centers for Disease Controlwebsite.
