NASHVILLE, Tenn. (Mike Osborne) — Two of Nashville’s eight COVID-19 metrics have begun flashing warning signs.
The city’s virus transmission rate and ICU bed capacity are in the red.
The ideal transmission rate is less than one. It currently stands at 1.16.
In addition, 92 percent of the city’s ICU beds are occupied as of Sunday morning. The goal set by the Metro Coronavirus Task Force is to have no more than 80 percent of ICU beds in use on any given day.
At last report, 192 Metro ICU beds were in use. Compare that to the July record high when 222 of the city’s ICU beds were occupied.
This past week Metro health officials noted that 43 percent of COVID-19 patients being treated in Nashville hospitals were not city residents.
