Drive-through virus test sites now open in Nashville, pre-screening required

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (Mike Osborne) -- Two of Nashville's long-postponed coronavirus drive-through assessment and testing sites are now operating, but health officials warn the sites are only open to those who have been pre-screened.

The sites are located at Nissan Stadium and Meharry Medical College. They will be open from 9 to 3 Monday, Wednesday and Friday each week. Testing is free and open to anyone regardless of immigration status.

To be approved for testing at the drive through sites, Nashville residents must first call the city's coronavirus hotline at 615-862-7777. Calls can be taken in English and Spanish.

The testing centers have been ready for days, but couldn’t open for a lack of testing supplies. Officials told reporters this morning they now have on hand enough testing supplies for at least two weeks.

A third testing site will open in Antioch on Wednesday. City officials say they plan to open other drive-through sites in the near future.
