Forecast heavy rains and lightening a challenge for CMA Fest

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (OSBORNE) -- It’s shaping up to be a soggy CMA Fest this week in Music City.

Middle Tennessee's stretch of dry weather comes to end beginning Wednesday.

Meteorologist John Cohen with the National Weather Service Office in Nashville says the mid-state can expect showers and thunderstorms each day Thursday, Friday and Saturday.

“During CMA Fest we’re looking at like two to three inches of total rainfall accumulation on average across the area, so unfortunately it’s not looking real good at this point in time.”

Cohen says it looks like the rain should be intermittent, allowing some acts to get their sets in, but he also says the storm system could include a lot of lighting. Cohen says that possibility has meteorologists concerned and the Nashville NWS Office will be watching closely.
