NASHVILLE, Tenn. (OSBORNE) --
Six Tennessee companies have signed on to an open letter expressing “concern” for President Donald Trump’s “escalation of tit-for-tat tariffs” against China.
Eastman Chemical Company located in Kingsport, and Tractor Supply headquartered in Brentwood, are among the nearly 600 companies who signed the letter.
The companies say they support the president's efforts to “hold our trading partners accountable, level the playing field for American businesses and forge enforceable trade agreements.”
However, they also bluntly call on Trump to “get back to the negotiating table while working with our allies to develop global, enforceable solutions.”
The companies conclude by writing that rising tariff’s could have “significant, negative and long-term impact on American businesses, farmers, families and the U.S. economy.”
