Tennessean Debuts BrainstormNashville.com

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. (WMOT)  --  The Tennessean announced an online initiative this morning designed to build on the outpouring of community involvement following the 2010 floods.

The newspaper is now beta testing a website that it’s calling Brainstorm Nashville (brainstormnashville.com). The site will use social media tools to explore community problems and build consensus around a solution.

The Tennessean is hoping ideas generated by the site will move beyond conversation to action.

In announcing the site’s debut, the Tennessean also noted that Brainstorm Nashville will be partnering with Middle Tennessee State University.  MTSU spokesman Andrew Oppmann says the school has a lot to offer.

“MTSU’s greatest contribution is going to be the power of our faculty expertise, offering up the cutting edge ideas and research that helps shape the discussion they’ll be having on the site.”

Oppman notes that Dr. Don Morgan of the MTSU Department of Health and Human performance will be contributing to the discussion of childhood obesity.
