Sebastian Junger & Marlee Matlin Visit Middle Tenn.

MURFREESBORO, Tenn (WMOT)  --  Best-selling author, journalist and documentary filmmaker Sebastian Junger and Academy Award winning actress Marlee Matlin will both speak here on the Middle Tennessee State campus this week.

Junger is perhaps best known as the author of the book “The Perfect Storm,” which became a major motion picture. Junger is also an accomplished journalist and filmmaker known for the war documentary "Restrepo."

Junger’s free public lecture, “Dispatches from War: Stories from the Front Lines of History,” is scheduled for 2:40 p.m. Tuesday afternoon in MTSU’s Tucker Theatre.

Marlee Matlin, winner of the 1986 Academy Award for Best Actress for her performance in “Children of a Lesser God,” will appear on campus Thursday as part of the MTSU celebration of Women’s History Month.

Anne Fraley, Director of the June Anderson Center for Women and Non-Traditional Students at MTSU, is Matlin’s host for the appearance. She says the actress, deaf since childhood, is the perfect guest for Women’s History Month.

Matlin will deliver the celebration’s keynote address Thursday afternoon at 4 p.m. in Tucker Theatre. The public is welcome, but seating is limited and tickets are required. You can get tickets at the Tucker Theater box office any day this week.
