Murf Near-Drowning Victim Critical

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. (WMOT)  --  Murfreesboro Police reported a near-drowning early Thursday morning at the Country Inn and Suites on Armory Drive.

Police said a patrolman responding to a 911 call found Matthew Tigner performing CPR on an unresponsive 23 year-old Scott Chance at the side of the hotel’s pool at about 1:30 Thursday morning.

EMS was called and Chance was transported to Middle Tennessee Medical Center. A hospital spokesperson said Thursday afternoon that Chance is in critical condition in the ICU.

Tigner told police that he and Chance were competing to see who could hold their breath the longest in the pool. According to a police report on the incident, Tigner admitted that the two men had been drinking.
